Lane Oiling Schedule

We will be cleaning and and oiling every morning in the lead up to the Pro-Am.
The Keys is a busy social centre, so please keep in mind that if you come and bowl late on a Friday or Saturday night for example, the lanes will have had heavy usage.

Terms & Conditions

  • This tournament is a scratch event, open to all bowlers.
  • Despite not being a TBA accredited event, all games will be bowled in accordance with TBA Rules & Regulations.
  • In the event of any scoring faults, individual lane referees will adjudicate and make corrections with appeals escalated immediately to the Tournament Director.
  • The International/National code of ethics rules apply.
  • Unlimited qualifying attempts are permitted however No bowler is permitted to have more than one entry in the finals event.
  • Finals Registration Entry Fee: $80 payable upon player registration prior to Elimination Qualifier.
  • Refund of Entry Fees – Should a refund of a player's entry fee be required because of an event cancellation or approved refund by the tournament director, the full amount paid will be transferred to the player's nominated bank account.
  • Lane draws will be posted approximately 30 mins prior to start time
  • Check-in and briefing will take place 30 minutes prior to each days assigned start time.
  • Any bowler that fails to check in will be replaced by the first available reserve.
  • OILING: Uniform oiling shall be used throughout the entire tournament.
  • Protests must be lodged with the Tournament Director within 15 minutes of the completion of bowling in which the incident occurred.
  • Tie Breaking Procedures. In the event of a tie in any finals game a Golden Ball (one ball, best pin count) roll-off will decide the placings.
  • Any matters not covered in these conditions will be decided by the Tournament Director whose decision will be final.
  • This tournament is being filmed and photographed for the purposes of Live-Streaming; The Key’s promotional material; digital and physical publications; documentary purposes and a Bowling TV Show, which may be aired in Australia and internationally on Commercial and Publicly owned networks and streaming platforms. By entering this competition, you (the participant named on the entry form) grant The Keys Preston Pty Ltd and its successors, assignees and licensees the full and irrevocable right to produce, copy, distribute, exhibit or transmit your voice and likeness in connection with the production. The participants acknowledge that any picture or recording taken of the participant under the terms of this agreement becomes the sole and exclusive property of The Keys Preston Pty Ltd in perpetuity and throughout the world. The participant further acknowledges that The Keys Pty Ltd has the right to use your name, portrait, voice and biographical information to promote or publicise the production and the venue and to authorize other parties to do the same. The participant agrees that no photos, footage or other material need be submitted to them for approval prior to usage. The participant acknowledges that The Keys Preston Pty Ltd has the right to assign the rights listed and agreed above, onto any other organisation or individual. The participant acknowledges that no financial or other form of remuneration will be provided for listed agreements. The participant acknowledges that they are free to enter into this agreement and it does not conflict with any existing agreements or contracts which the participant may be party to.

For the first time ever, bowlers in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia will be able to qualify for the Pro Am.
The Keys will fly the Top 4 bowlers from each state to Melbourne, put you up and feed you parmas, and give you the chance to compete for the $15,000 cash grand prize.
All you have to do is register a qualifying attempt with your participating bowling centre, bowl, submit your score*, and hope for the best.

How To Qualify

This is the qualifying process for Victoria. For interstate qualifiers, see the Regionals tab.

First things first.
Register your interest here to ensure you don't miss out on any vital information.

Simply play at The Keys during the qualifying period (J to July 2025). Before starting, register your attempt with reception then bowl a two-game set, your total pinfall of those two combined games* will be recorded and displayed on the Live Leaderboard online. After you play, fill out the registration form and submit it to reception. For each qualifying attempt, fill out a registration form.
*Each game's individual score is recorded for tie breaker purposes.

The top 80 total registered pin-falls across the qualifying period will proceed to the Elimination Qualifier on Saturday August 2nd.
Please note 4 spots have been reserved for the top bowlers of The Keys regular leagues, as well as 16 spots for regional qualifiers, resulting in 100 bowlers reaching the Elimination Qualifier on Saturday August 2nd.

In the event of a tie for 80th place, the highest score for the second game played will take precedence. If a tie still occurs, all tied entrants will be invited to a Golden Ball throw off held immediately prior to the Elimination Qualifier on Saturday August 2nd.

There is no limit to qualifying entry attempts.

Qualifying Concludes: July 31st @ 11pm

Registration fee of $80 is payable by all players participating in the Elimination Qualifier on Saturday August 2nd during player registration. Any qualifier not in attendance will be replaced by the next available player.

Elimination Qualifier – Saturday August 2nd

The 100 qualifiers (4 Keys League Bowlers, 16 Interstate Qualifiers
and 80 Keys Qualifiers) will be given a selected time on Saturday the
2nd of August
to come and bowl a 3 game series in an Elimination
round.

Group 1
48 bowlers (Keys qualifiers, 4 per lane)
Player Registration: 8:30am
Warm Up: 8:50am
Commencement: 9:00am

Group 2
36 bowlers (Keys qualifiers, 4 per lane)
Player Registration: 12:00pm
Warm Up: 12:20pm
Commencement: 12:30pm

Group 3
16 bowlers (Regionals qualifiers, 4 per lane)
Player Registration: 3:30pm
Warm Up: 3:50pm
Commencement: 4:00pm

At the completion of everyone bowling their 3 game series, the top 32
series scores will progress to the Final on Sunday the 3rd of August.

Finals – Sunday August 3rd

All finals games are played over one game matches and are in a knock out format.

All players will be seeded for the event based on their total pinfall over the Elimination Round. If a tied score occurs, count back will occur – the highest score from the 3rd game in the Elimination Qualifier, then the 2nd game, then 1st... After that, a Greco-Roman wrestling match.

In the event of a tie in any of Sunday's rounds, a Golden Ball (frame) Roll Off will be used to determine the winner.

ROUND OF 32
Eight pools of four over eight lanes play one game, with the highest total pinfalls from each pool proceeding to the round of 16, and the second highest score from each pool going into a knockout round.

KNOCKOUT #1
The second highest scores (Pools 1, 2, 3 & 4) in each pool play one game with the top 2 proceeding to the Round of 16.

The second highest score (pool 5, 6, 7 & 8) in each pool play one game with the top 2 proceeding to the Round of 16.

ROUND OF 16
Four groups of four bowlers will play one game, with the highest total pinfalls from each group proceeding to the round of 8, and the second highest score from each group going into another knockout round.

KNOCKOUT #2
Two Groups of Two Bowlers will play one game, with the highest total pinfall from these games proceeding to the round of 8, where the bowlers will join the Carry-Over Champion from the 2024 Pro Am, as well The Keys League Champion.

ROUND OF 8
Two Groups of Four Bowlers will play one game, with the two highest total pinfall from these games proceeding to the Semi Final. The lowest 2 pinfalls from each group will be knocked out of the competition.

SEMI FINALS
Two Groups of Two Bowlers will play one game, with the highest total pinfall from these games proceeding to the Grand Final.

GRAND FINAL
Two Bowlers will play one game, with the highest total pinfall becoming the Pro-Am 2025 Champion.
